Google for Startups Cloud Program (Start tier): credits, eligibility & how to apply
Google Cloud · [3P]
Low priority for this burn (Sureel runs on Claude/Bedrock, not GCP) — but the Start tier is free self-serve money.
How much do you actually get?
Start tier (bootstrapped-eligible): ~$1,000–$2,000 GCP credits, self-serve, ~1 yr, no prior funding required. [3P — official benefits page truncated on fetch; confirm on-site]. The Scale tier (up to $200k) and AI-First tier (up to $350k) are GATED on VC funding and/or accelerator affiliation — bootstrapped realistically gets only the ~$1k–$2k Start tier.
Are you eligible?
- ✓You must be an incorporated, registered legal entity — a real company, not just an idea.
- ✓Bootstrapped companies are eligible — there is a path here with no VC backing.
The fine print: Start tier has no prior-funding requirement. Low priority for a Claude/Bedrock burn profile, but free. Vertex AI now serves Claude models, so credits could offset future Google-side use. [3P]

Google for Startups Cloud Program (Start tier) — frequently asked questions
How much does the Google for Startups Start tier give bootstrapped companies?
The Start tier is bootstrapped-eligible and gives roughly $1,000–$2,000 in GCP credits, self-serve, valid about a year, with no prior-funding requirement. (The official benefits page was truncated on fetch, so confirm the current figure on-site.) It is free self-serve money even if it is low priority for a Claude-on-Bedrock burn.
Why can't I get Google's $200k or $350k startup tiers?
The Scale tier (up to $200k) and the AI-First tier (up to $350k) are gated on VC funding and/or accelerator affiliation. A bootstrapped company realistically gets only the ~$1,000–$2,000 Start tier, which has no prior-funding requirement.
Is Google Cloud useful if I run on Claude?
It is lower priority if your burn is Claude on Bedrock rather than GCP. That said, Vertex AI now serves Claude models, so the Start-tier credits could offset future Google-side use — and the Start tier is free, so there is little downside to grabbing it.
